Subject:Mp3 List
Time:1:33 am.
Mood: bored.
Music:"She Looks To Me" - Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Feel free to request absolutely anything from this list--except the whole thing! Sorry to those of you that did--but you can request as many songs as you like otherwise in the meantime. I have a lot of free time, so don't think you're inconveniencing me by requesting a lot! I love having something to do. I check my email several times a day, so chances are I'll get back to you within a day or two at the most.

HOW REQUESTING WORKS:

1. You comment here with the names of the song or songs you want

2. If you DO NOT HAVE A LIVEJOURNAL ACCOUNT, LEAVE ME A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS. If you have a LiveJournal account, you don't have to leave an email address.

3. DO NOT EMAIL ME DIRECTLY with your song requests. My inbox moves incredibly quickly, and I will never get to it.

4. If for some reason I'm lazy or busy and don't get to your song request right away, don't panic. If you requested correctly, I WILL get to your request. If I haven't gotten to it in over a week, feel free to bug me about it. If you make a big request, expect it to take a little while.

HOW I RESPOND:

1. I will get back to you within a week if I haven't already posted a notice of absence with the date I will return.

2. I upload the song to a reputable file transfer service called YouSendIt.com, where it will be available for seven days or ten downloads.

3. I will email you with the link to your file. This is because attachments can become corrupted, infected, or get bounced back from a full inbox. I will never intentionally send you a virus. Every link I send is fully legitimate.

4. If you posted with a LiveJournal account, I will post a reply on this page containing your link instead of emailing you.

5. If you asked for more than one file, they will be zipped. You can open .zip files with WinZip, which is absolutely free. If your zip file is over 1 GB in size, it will be split into two or more parts.

6. Please don't think I'm a mean person because I have lots of rules! I just want things to move as smoothly as possible to avoid any confusion.

Request away! ^^

Subject:What luck!
Time:5:41 pm.
Mood: bored.
Music:Skeptics Guide to the Universe Podcast - Episode 114.
I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a copy of my school schedule (....because dad accidentally threw mine out) and I found the one I put up on LJ a few weeks ago. :O How LUCKY am I?

I needed to know which block I had Chinese in next term because now I don't. My Chinese is teh suck, so my teacher suggested that instead of taking the Chinese Standard Level exam this year, I take the Chinese ab initio exam next year.

IB has different types of language exams:

Ab initio - the easiest exam, for students who have had NO experience in the language until high school (like me)
Standard Level (SL) - the middle exam, for students who've had some experience in their language before high school OR are native speakers
Higher Level (HL) - the "OMFGEVILHARD!!" exam for fluent students who have spoken that language since birth

So now I'm taking the ab initio next year instead of the SL this year, and I have a free block next term that I have to fill. I get to choose a new class to put in either block 2 or block 3! I'm hoping for IB Computer Science or Law, but it all depends on what's free...

Subject:Because... it's so amusing....
Time:6:42 pm.
Mood: blank.
Music:My brother and his friends shouting....
So today I was chatting with my Chemistry lab partner, Mike, and (somehow?) we got to talking about negative personality traits. My stubbornness came up, and I thought I was only fairly stubborn, but apparently not. xD; He insisted that I was an EXTREMELY stubborn person, which I wouldn't have thought about myself. So I did a poll with three of my friends...

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how ... am I?"

Stubborn: 10, 10, and 11
Aggressive: 9, 9.5, and 9.999 (xD)
Intimidating: 0, 0, and 10
Silly: 10, 10, and 11.5

Which is funny, because this morning when I was talking with Mr Truss and introduced him to LOLcats on his laptop, he said he was SHOCKED that I was so amused by them. He said it was a relief that I wasn't "just into the news and politics and books and stuff." But when I first revealed my love of LOLcats, he just about shouted (mocking): "AAH, you're ruining my image of you as the serious, brooding intellectual!"

I'm a serious, brooding intellectual? xD Diana gave me a 11.5 on the 1-10 silliness scale...

BUT ANYWAY, I stole a Disney princess meme from [info]yugisgirl1!

Three-way tie between Jasmine, Mulan, and almost Belle. :O )

Guess who spent 6 hours in transit yesterday (Monday) coming home from Vancouver Island? Yup, c'est moi. I wanted to be back mid-day so I could make it to fourth period and take my Chem quiz... but it was not meant to be. I left my island home at 5am and walked in the front door of my mainland home at 11am. Still mid-day, but I had a MONSTER of a chemistry lab to write up that I wasn't able to do on the island (no internet access, and research was involved). I had to rest before I typed it up, I had had less than two hours of sleep, no coffee, and was effectively mentally DEAD.

So I slept for 45min, worked for an hour and a half, BLITZED my way out the door and barely caught the bus, handed in my lab, then ended up having to write my chem quiz on the spot. Dx Of course, having 2 hours of sleep and traveling for six hours since 5am, my mind was in no shape to write a quiz and I pretty much just stared at it for an hour Dx

Oh well, I got to roadtrip to Tofino over the weekend, home of surfing in BC! TOTAL HIPPY TOWN. Also, I almost got KILLED by a monster wave in Ucluelet (an hour or so south of Tofino). I was caught in sort of a rocky canyon by the ocean and saw a wave bigger than I was rushing towards me, and of course these things can kill you, no joke. Someone at my parents' church had his neck and back broken by a rogue wave around this area. I escaped though, obviously... @__@ managed to scramble up the cliff just in time. My mom saw the whole thing and was freaking out. xD;

CAN IT BE MEME TIEM NAOW PLZ?

Subject:All hail the Voice of Dissent!
Time:8:29 pm.
Mood: aggravated.
Music:Futurama on TV.
XD Yes, so apparently I'm the official "Voice of Dissent" in my Biology class...

First off, our Bio teacher is whack. She talks about meaningless crap for the whole class and then expects us to automatically know everything she didn't teach us. It's... pretty pathetic, actually, but it was at least TOLERABLE. Extremely extremely painful, but tolerable, at least as long as I had other homework to do and books to read during that class.

THEN, she started feeding us FALSE information and not answering our questions correctly!

In the assigned reading last night, we read about a scientist who disproved the theory of spontaneous generation (that life can come from non-life). So... this morning... she gives in-class notes that tell us he was the guy who CREATED the idea of spontaneous generation!

Of course, I never just sit there and take bullshit, so I interrupted and asked her why our textbook said that he was the guy who DISPROVED spontaneous generation.

"Well, yes, but before he did that, he came up with it."

WTF? The textbook itself said that he had set out to disprove two scientists before him who had "proved" spontaneous generation.

But of course she didn't listen.

So ten minutes later when she moves on to something else, my classmate Tim snuck over to my desk and told me to bring it up again. He had the exact quote from the textbook that proved she was wrong and told me he would back me up. Why didn't he do it himself? 'Cause he was scared and apparently I have a reputation for being the one who stands up to teachers in class.

Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

I never try to be rude or arrogant about it, but I guess I can come across like it sometimes. So many others just sit and absorb everything, and are afraid to say anything when they disagree... like teachers are gods or something. W/e, man. They can be sponge-like zombies if they want, I don't sit there and take bullshit.

The current song has been stuck in my head all week. xD; It's a Chinese song (rough translation: "Girl Opposite from Me, Look This Way") that we all karaoke'd in Mandarin last year for bonus marks. All of the sudden I started to hum it to myself this year and everyone near me is begging me to stop.

We karaoke'd to a flash animation of the song HERE: http://www.resnet.trinity.edu/jkrause/SWF/kanguolai.swf

Watch it, it's crack xD

In other news, my internet connection has been absolutely pathetic in the past few weeks. It's just... really, really bad. It goes out for entire days, and I can't get a connection for more than 20 minutes at once. The typical connection period I get lasts, oh..... THREE MINUTES. I can load one or two pages then it dies and I have to wait for a few more hours to get another three minutes. Dad keeps saying he'll call somebody, but he never does -_-. This is REALLY REALLY pathetic - he had BETTER NOT pay the internet bills this month, not a cent. If they dare to get mad at us, we'll just say... And just WHAT INTERNET ACCESS were we supposed to be paying for this month??

Yeah, it really sucks.

Stole a meme from [info]spikecomix!

Music:CSI: Miami on TV.
Went to the k-os concert on Saturday, and IT WAS AWESOME. It was full of so much win and pwnage that for me to describe it would be utter fail. If you have a chance to go see him, DO.

School started today - kinda. We only really went for an hour, just to get our timetables and lockers. As one of the "senior" students (at my school, "junior" means grades 9/10 and "senior" means grades 11/12... yeah, I know that's weird to ya'll in the US xD), I got to come at 1pm instead of 10am. But I had to drop off my brother at his high school at 9am, so I had to get up early anyway. x_x He doesn't know how to take the bus yet, so I had to go with him.

I HAVE BLOCK ONE OFF!! This is AWESOME. I get to sleep in another hour, I don't have to come to school until 9:45am, and then I get all my classes over and done with instead of having to sit around for an hour in between. The only downside is that I have four difficult courses in a row and Biology and Chemistry back-to-back at lunchtime... no eating is ever allowed in the Bio and Chem rooms because they're full of chemicals and worm eggs and crap like that. So I have to adjust my schedule to eat lunch either early in the morning or in the mid-afternoon. ):

ALL my courses are study courses, too. I am going to be SO busy.

Semester 1 schedule:
Block 1 - FREE
Block 2 - Mandarin Chinese 11
Block 3 - IB Biology 11
Block 4 - IB Chemistry 11
Block 5 - IB History 11

Semester 2 schedule:
Block 1 - IB Theory of Knowledge 12
Block 2 - IB Mandarin Chinese 12
Block 3 - FREE
Block 4 - IB Math Methods 11
Block 5 - IB English 11

So... yeah.

Music:"Lifelight" - Andy Hunter.
I'm staying in my mom's new apartment tonight, and it's FREAKING AWESOME. This is my first visit, I haven't seen her since she left last week. Some stuff about her apartment...

1. It's BIG. Bigger than the second floor of the HOUSE, and my house is really big (by Vancouver standards). Three bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen, a porch, WIDE hallways, a living room... :D WHOOT! I've also got the biggest bedroom in the place.

2. It's ACTUALLY IN MY SCHOOL'S NEIGHBORHOOD. I live kind of far away from my school... it takes me two buses and more than half an hour to get there. Now it's one bus and less than five minutes (hell, I could just walk). This is crazy, because all the people I know from school live here (in Glenayre, this neighborhood). I recognize houses and shit... I even know where all the parties are held around here. O_o

3. LOL, we're scamming free wireless internet off of someone else in the building with the username "drummerboy". His access is more stable than ours at home!

4. I can actually cuss in mom's presence and talk about things I'd NEVER be able to mention in front of dad.

So yeah, staying at my mom's apartment = win.

I bask in my own awesomeness, I did an entire Comparative Civilizations 12 (World History) class in three days and I got a 97% in the course 8D

</bragging>

But my poor overworked brain, my hideously disfigured sleep-cycle, and body wrecked by caffeine overdoses will never forgive me. v_v I think my heart rate is permanently stuck at 220% of what it used to be...

I need to return the CD-ROM that the distance education school gave me for the course - URGENTLY. Apparently, if it's not returned within a year (and the date either just passed or is just about to come), they get to keep the $250 deposit we had to make on it. My parents have been threatening me to finish the course so they can get their money back, and now that I finished it and DESPERATELY, DESPERATELY need to return this thing before they take our money, dad says he's just not in the mood to drive down there and return it. WTF?!

I'm so not going to take the blame for this -_-;

Also, I was on Vancouver Island for vacation last week... and am probably going to owe my parents a fortune anyway. I was staying in a different house than my parents, and my dad called me three or four times a day to notify me of things like "Breakfast's ready", "Coffee's ready", "We're going out", etc. NOW, we find out that every single one of those calls was LONG DISTANCE.

Yeah. SHIT.

And I just now found out that I don't have any text messaging deal on my cell phone plan. I thought I had unlimited texts for a set amount a month, but it turns out that each message is 15 cents. Sounds small, but I've suddenly started texting like WHOA this month. I multiplied the full capacity of my outbox plus the number of times I had to empty it for space... and I think I owe my parents AT LEAST $30 in text messaging fees.

DOUBLE SHIT.

Plus I need $40 to get into Anime Evolution at SFU this weekend, not including food for the weekend.

I desperately, desperately, desperately need a job. I owe my parents so much money...

I spent 8 hours at Starbucks today. The same Starbucks. I moved between something like four or five tables to escape the sunlight, because it hurts my eyes and kills my laptop screen >_<

I was in that Starbucks so long that they were closing when I left... and all the barristas were like, "Damn, doesn't that girl have somewhere to go?" (Yeah, exactly like that, but at Starbucks instead of Blenz. Blenz has the most crappy coffee ever... second only to the coffee that comes out of Nestle vending machines. EW.)

Two black coffees, one Americano, and a sugary lemon loaf. Yum.

Oh well, for the low low price of a coffee every two and a half hours, I can rent out a little table in the corner of a coffeeshop downtown. It's very nice, but sometimes I get too caught up listening to the music or watching the people go by to work. @_@; I *USED* to claim a table in the social science section of the library to work, but the library workers are all on strike, so it's going to be closed until God knows when...

I can't believe I worked for eight hours and only finished two and a half chapters... that's just crazy! D< Oh well, one more left... and then my final project... and I have to do them all tomorrow.

My dad has such a double standard for me and my brother. He still hardly lets me out of the house if he knows I'm going to be alone with a guy, even if that guy is a friend and has been my friend for years. And YET, when we were talking about our vacation next week, dad said my brother's girlfriend could come with us. WTF??? (Number one, why is my brother allowed to have a girlfriend if I can't even have guys as friends?) AND, he plans to let my (13-year-old) brother drive the car around the neighborhood on the Island, even though I (nearly 16) have never been allowed to drive before. WTF. SERIOUSLY.

There's some weird grinding noise coming from outside the house. O_o It's the second night I've been hearing it and I still have no idea what it is.

Subject:WTF-ness of the day...
Time:9:40 pm.
Mood: busy.
Music:"Sunday Morning" by k-os is stuck in my head....
I've been out everyday this week haunting Starbucks stores downtown because I'm the world's worst procrastinator ever. I signed up for a distance education course WAAAY back in last September and I just started it a couple of days ago. The entire course is due on this Sunday. And I can't do homework at home (it's too distracting and depressing) so I've been leaving early every morning to find a Starbucks to work at downtown, move to a new Starbucks every couple hours so I don't get bored, and leave late at night.

Yup, that's how I do my homework O_o

I came home pretty early today (9-ish) because I was starting to feel really sick (probably from all that coffee... it's gone now), and I asked dad to pick me up from the station. He says that he's going to call Pizza Hut to place an order for him and mom and then he'll be there right away.

.....SO, more than half an hour after I get there he shows up looking mad as hell, and he tells me that he was on hold at Pizza Hut for 27 minutes.

Me: Why did you stay on the phone for 27 minutes??

Apparently he just didn't want to give up, and he was waiting for them to answer so he could yell at them. I would have hung up after 5 and called again to complain, but that's just me...

And when he finally got the pizza, they had gotten his order wrong XD

Randomly: I'm going to my first concert in September! ._. Rhia and I are going to see k-os. He's a really awesome Canadian rapper who does *GOOD* rap... he mostly does stuff that blends jazz, club music, and hiphop, and his lyrics are brilliant.

So yeah. I really have to get back to work. *scrambles away*

I RETURN FROM THE DEAD.

It's been forever since I updated here... D:

HP7, omgwtf!

I went to the midnight release at Chapters (Canada's equivalent of Borders/Barnes & Nobles) with Rhia because it was going to be our last chance to stand in line for a HP book. We ran into some friends from my school (Rhia and I go to different schools now), Luke and Ally. Both of them read the leaked copy of the book online last week, but they came anyway to laugh at us all in line and absorb the HP atmosphere xD

My "no internet before HP" policy paid off, 'cause apparently Luke posted a fake note in his Facebook a few days ago called "I have cancer..." (he just shaved his head) with all the HP spoilers hidden in it xDDD (You're a horrible person, Luke!)

For the half-hour it took us to reach the door, we amused ourselves by doing our own "Harry Potter Cheer" - Rhia shouts "AVADA KEDAVRA!" and then we all scream like we're dying. xD; Repeat for half an hour. Then when we got to the door, we got greeted by another friend from school, Austin, who was working at Chapters that night!

SOOOOooo, just as Rhia and I came out of Chapters with our books and were headed for the car, some guy said, "Hey, check out my cool t-shirt!" Of course we turned to look... and...

SPOILER'D!!!!!!

Dx RIGHT AS WE WERE WALKING OUT OF THE FRICKIN STORE WITH OUR BOOKS!

Yep. After SOMEHOW managing to dodge spoilers until the moment we had the books in our hands, some guy and his friends outside Chapters spoiled it for us with a t-shirt -_-; The t-shirt listed at the top the main plot point, then had a list of all the deaths, then a list of the couples, then a summary of the epilogue.

It took me a less than a second to realize that the shirt had spoilers on it, and I said, "HOLY CRAP, THOSE ARE SPOILERS!!" and I managed to look away before I saw anything *really* crucial. But Rhia was not so lucky... as soon as I shouted that there were spoilers, she looked without thinking and spoiled the ending for herself! D:

Poor Rhia...

I pulled an all-nighter to finish the book once I got home, and Rhia just finished it tonight, so now we're discussing it. It takes so long to digest a book if you just binge-read it in one or two days...

I hope you all got in on the free coffee today! :D

What's that? Free coffee?

Yeah!

Today was the Starbucks Worldwide Coffee Break! From 10am to 12pm, Starbucks was giving away FREE TALL COFFEES to whoever came in! And customers weren't limited to one apiece--supply was unlimited! :D

I found out about it sometime last week, but completely forgot about it until this morning, when I went to my local Starbucks like I do every morning and found out that my regular coffee was TOTALLY FREE! (My local Starbucks started the Break a few hours earlier, just because.) So of course I ran around the school (being careful not to spill my coffee) screaming that Starbucks was giving away free coffee until noon. Yeah, I sent a herd of high school kids their way. XD; I also called all the known coffee-lovers on my cell phone's contact list to let them know of the Starbucks lurv. My dad told me that every Starbucks he passed on the way to work had a gigantic line, even though the Coffee Break technically hadn't started yet. O_o;;

So... yeah... WHOOT! FREE COFFEE! XDD

Valentine's Day? Really? ...I didn't even remember until some student council volunteers interrupted my first period class to sing "Fly Me to the Moon" and give a couple of girls some candy from their boyfriends. XDD; Mental note: never date a sentimental guy... *I'd* be the one forgetting birthdays/Valentine's Day/anniversaries. XD

How does a single, eccentric person like myself celebrate Valentine's Day?

Getting into intense debates about abortion on Digg and rawking out to explicit Red Hot Chili Peppers music!

The Chili Peppers played at the Grammys on Sunday! :D They did awesome, even if they didn't win Best Album (damn you, Dixie Chicks, and your political controversy! D:). But they did win Best Rock Album (Stadium Arcadium), Best Rock Song (Dani California), and Best Rock Song by a Duo or Group w/ Vocals (Dani California), so I guess it's all good. XD; I really enjoyed their performance, even though they played "Snow ((Hey Oh))", which isn't one of my favorite songs though I'm growing to like it. And the backstage crew rigged it so that fake snow fell down on the band for the entire second half of their performance!! Awesome, just awesome.

I was freaking out earlier in the show because the announcers said that the Chili Peppers' performance would be "unforgettable". A few months ago during one of their shows, the Chili Peppers lost a bet and ended up playing an entire concert wearing nothing but one sock each, and you know where that one sock was. I was scared they were going to do that again--my parents were watching the Grammys with me, so I was afraid that they would ban me from listening to the Chili Peppers anymore if they knew what the band was like. XD; Everything turned out all right in the end, though (they were properly dressed!), but my parents didn't like Kiedis (the lead singer) because "he looked like a girl."

Sigh.

I'm starting to like that crazy "Dani California" music video, but everyone else I know hates it. I used to... until I got to know a bit more about the band. I think that if you love the song, you'll hate the video, but if you love the band, you've love the video. It's just so unbelievably... Chili Pepper-ish. XD; (And it's the most sensical music video they've made since "Tell Me Baby". Their other videos are just plain *weird*... like this one isn't.)

WARNING: If you adore the song (and like the band only so-so or not at all), don't watch the music video. My mother, a fan of the song itself, (rightly) described the video as "Kiss meets AC/DC and tastes the rainbow. Lifetime penalties for improper use of funk." XD

Music:"Not Gonna Get Us" - t.A.T.u..
Lots of things right now...

First: Rhia's mom had a stroke last night... :O  She says it wasn't a serious one and there won't be permanent damage, but oh my god it was so scary to hear that.  You know that old cliche about "blood running cold"...?  It's a cliche for a reason.  MANY MANY MANY hugs toward Rhia and her family. ):

Second: An Announcement from the BC Ministry of Education: THE GRADUATION PORTFOLIO HAS BEEN SCRAPPED!!
OH MY GOD, this is great!  ...Sort of.  I still have to do 80 hours of physical activity + 30 hours of work experience IN ADDITION to 200 Creative/Active/Service hours with the IB, but it's sort of a victory. D:  At least, it's a victory for all the other non-IB students in BC.  Way to luck out, guys!

Third: My exams are OVER.  DONE.  And I am no longer sick.  I can finally breathe, literally and metaphorically.  I don't think I got an 'A' on the science provincial, but I won't lose (much) sleep over it until the scale comes into effect and I find out whether or not I lose the 'A' I worked my ass off for. ):  The English and Math provincials were a snap compared to that one--I'm pretty sure that I aced both, even though I almost passed out in the middle of my English exam.  At least I finished every question on both tests; I know so many people that didn't.  But for science... ugh, I'm really praying for a gigantic scale. ):

Music:I can hear the TV from my room ;o;.
My brother continues to be an insensitive brat.... I just got kicked out of the TV room this morning because "you're portable, and the TV's not." ;o;  He's got a TV in his room... and his argument for wanting to watch the TV in the room I'm trying to sleep in (the room with the water/medicine/food supply!!) is that the downstairs TV is bigger.

I have a big (read: 20% of grade) exam at 9am tomorrow and I still feel crummy...

AAAGGH, HIGH STAKES TESTING!!! *kicks a chair over and falls into a coughing fit*

Yeah, I'm just a little freaked out about this.... just a little.

Sad to say, I haven't gotten any better since yesterday.... in fact, my throat's gotten worse, so I can't even talk now. ):  At least my chills went away.

I've been really pissy today, mostly because the guys (ie, my dad and brother) have been really getting on my nerves.  Mom's the only one who's been, y'know, NICE to me today.  I had to sleep downstairs to be closer to the kitchen for water and medicine during the night, but the couch was really uncomfortable and I was really sick, so I was lying awake until.... I dunno, something crazy, because the last time I looked at the clock it was 6:30 in the freaking morning.  I was sleeping in the TV room because the couches in the living room were all leather, and leather + feverish sweating = NO.

So at something like 8 in the morning... after maybe one hour's sleep... dad wakes up, walks into the kitchen (the kitchen and TV room are basically the same room) and starts grinding coffee beans.  While I had just gotten to sleep a few feet away.  Thanks dad.  Then twenty minutes later my brother invites his friend over, and they take over the TV room--where I'm still trying to SLEEP, kthnx!!!--and play Grand Turismo (auto racing game) at an earsplitting volume!! (NOT KIDDING, you can hear every sound detail of the game from upstairs on the other side of the house!)

It was impossible to sleep a couple feet away from this sonic boom-like TV (and my brother and his friend, who are yelling over the game to talk to each other), so I went upstairs... and I couldn't sleep there because I needed water and the water was downstairs and on the other side of the house, where my brother was!  Not to mention that I could still hear the TV as if I was lying right next to it. x__x  So I had to keep getting up and walking all the way downstairs and to the other side of the house while sick (read: dizzy and disoriented) to get water for my throat.  Thanks Jonathan, thanks so much. D<

Dad got on my nerves for a while by trying to talk to me, since we never get to talk and this is the first day in months I've been out of school and not spending the day downtown.  Besides the fact that it was just annoying to be bugged with questions, I couldn't even ANSWER them because my throat hurt too much.  So I was trying to explain to him that it was really, really painful even to whisper, and he kept trying to talk to me. X__x  Plz no, kthnx?

Mom was gone all day, but at least she was nice to me while she was at home.  And sympathetic, but not the creepy kind of sympathy that I hate getting from relatives. (I always hated admitting that I was sick when I was a kid, because getting fawned over and pitied by everyone was really creepy.)

So... yeah... it hasn't been a great day and I'm not any better, but thanks to those of you who sympathized on my last post anyway.  ^_^

I hate high-stakes testing...

Okay, so I flunked one physics lab... I've worked really hard since the beginning of the year for the 'A' I have in IB Science.  I did every assignment--every one of them, and that's a milestone for me, since I never do my work--and I answered every review question, I asked questions in class when I didn't understand, and I gave up all of my lunch hours this semester to study and do my homework in the library.  I suck at science, especially lab science, and I worked my ass off to get the 'A' I have right now.

I flunked one physics lab last week, and thankfully my teacher only counts those as 10% of my mark... so it didn't drop me that far, since I got okay marks on our other two labs.

Even though I flunked a lab... I've still got an 86.3%.

BUT a bunch of bigwigs up at the Ministry of Education said, "Hay, let's force all the tenth graders to take a province-wide test that's worth 20-FREAKING-PERCENT of their final grade... even though it forces every teacher to teach to the test and every school to work at the same pace.  If an emergency comes up and they don't get part of the material...?  Pfft, they'll be okay."

I know some upper-level tests are worth a lot more... and in university maybe a little more so, so maybe I should get used to it... but it just seems so unfair.  If I don't get at least an 86% on the provincial, I lose my 'A', and I can't let that happen because I reaaaaally want to go to a top-notch university in the States, and... well, maybe I'm just obsessing, but I'm just so upset over this.  I worked hard for that 'A'.  Don't I get to keep it?

The reason why I'm so worried right now is that I've just caught the flu that's been going around, or at least I'm about to.  I could barely talk when I woke up this morning because my throat was so clogged and sore (I can barely breathe... say goodbye to sleep), and the lack of oxygen and blood getting to my brain because of that is making my head spin.  On top of that... I have two heaters on and a gigantic comforter, and I still feel freezing inside (but boiling outside!!) even though my family says it's too hot.  I really hope it's not a fever... they don't let students put off the provincial unless they're dying or unconscious or something.

I really hope I'm better by Wednesday (when I have my exam).  And that I get to keep my 'A'.

*crawls off to study*
